David Lasley – Missin’ Twenty Grand (US press, vinyl rip) (1982) mp3+flac

Lasley started his music career in his teens, forming a singing group with his sister and achieving some success in the Detroit area. In 1970 he joined the cast of Hair, performing first in Detroit and then on tour. This led to a move to New York City, and performances on and off-Broadway. Lasley started his career as a back-up singer at this time. Along with Vandross, he performed on many of Chic’s and Sister Sledge’s recordings. (more…)

David Lasley – Raindance (1984) (US press, vinyl-rip) mp3+flac

This album is one of the forgotten treasures of the 1980’s, produced by Don Was. The album was only released on vinyl and has never been reissued.
Though primarily a Funk & Soul album, the individual tracks are very varied and the whole album is a very good example of what David Lasley is capable of. (more…)

Morty & The Racing Cars ‎– Love Blind (1981) (German press, vinyl rip) mp3+flac

Love Blind is in fact a solo release by Gareth Mortimer. Outside the UK the album was released as Morty & The Racing Cars though Racing Cars had split up after their third studio album.
Racing Cars was reformed in 2000 and released two more album. In 2015 Gareth “Morty” Mortimer died from cancer aged 66. (more…)
