Pop rock is a music genre which mixes a catchy pop style and light lyrics in its (typically) guitar-based rock songs. There are varying definitions of the term, ranging from a slower and mellower form of rock music to a subgenre of pop music. The detractors of pop rock often deride it as a slick, commercial product, less authentic than rock music.[1]

Her self-titled debut “Amy Holland” was produced by Amy’s future husband Michael McDonald, who also co-wrote and perform. The single “How Do I Survive” became a big hit and made it to the Top 30 chart, still played in classic rock radio. Smooth pop / soft rock is the motto here, with a West Coast feeling from the era.
