Folk metal is a sub-genre of heavy metal music that developed in Europe during the 1990s, a fusion of heavy metal and traditional folk music. This includes the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech).

The remnants of what used to be one of the largest forests in Europe still conceal its share of mysticism and magic. Many a creepy tale originated from the German Black Forest and from the very same Black Forest hails the pagan folk metal band aptly named Finsterforst [Dark Forest in English]. For their upbeat display of pagan mastery on their previous album, they have garnered much deserved attention across the folk scene. Yet they have been criticized for sounding like Moonsorrow. German folk metal artists Adorned Brood revealed the track list and album art for the forthcoming LP “Kuningaz,” the band’s eighth studio release. The album is scheduled for release on November 23, 2012 via Massacre Records. The song “Victory Or Valhall” will be the first single off the album, which will be available on October 26, 2012 as a digital drop only. A trailer for the album can be found at this location.
“Kuningaz” was recorded at the Kohlekeller Studio in Seeheim-Jugenheim, Germany, with producer Kai Stahlenberg and will be available in standard CD and limited digipak. The limited digipak will feature a re-recording of the song “Totenmarsch” from the 2002 release “Erdenkraft,” as a bonus track.

The Wizard of Oz Spanish band recently released the video clip “Xanandra” theme that belongs to his new album “Spells, Potions and Witchcraft,” which will be released on November 27, 2012 by Warner Records.
This album marks the debut in the voices of Javier Domínguez, known as Zeta, who replaces Andrea Joseph after his departure.
