It takes some guitarists a life time to win the respect and acclaim of their peers, but not Dave Kilminster. He was named Guitarist Of The year in 1991, as a relative unknown, taking his first steps in the music industry.
It wasn’t Kilminster’s back catalogue of hits or his world renowned live show that captured the imagination (he didn’t have any of that back then; he was still working for IBM), he simply took the critics’ breath away with his playing style and technique.
The magazines weren’t the only ones to get behind him; he soon found himself invited to teach at the Guitar Institute in Acton. From that moment onwards Kilminster’s career would begin to blossom leading him to tour the world with his heroes Keith Emerson and Roger Waters.
NOW…wow!
While waiting for ACT to get their thumbs out and release a follow up to the appropriately entitled “Silence”, please welcome Time Code Alpha. Ok, in all honesty, Time Code Alpha shall be seen as no substitute for ACT, we are talking a new highly interesting band with its own sound but in the same genre here. Time Code Alpha features the undisputed talents of former Biscaya singer Mads Clausen, guitaristPeter Lazar and bass player Ken Sandin who has been seen in bands like Alien, DaVinci, Transport League etc.
Pedal to the metal, fists in the air, heads down, no nonsense beer drenched hard rock ‘n roll! That’s the short description of Swedish newcomers’ The Hellfire Clan’s debut album. The Hellfire Clan could at times be easily mistaken for sleaze, but don’t be fooled. There are some brutal riffing, closer to Hellfueled or even Zakk Wylde coloured touches, going on. At times I even get a hint of Corabi-era Crüe. I think it’s the combination of the sleaze-oriented vocals and the detuned, crunchy guitars that brings it a bit between the boxes.
“The phone rang and on the other side of the handset, it was a band from sölvesborgwho wanted to book two weekends to record an album. Coming from (Sweden Rock Festival’s hometown) and book a total of 40 hours for an album is probably the most daring thing I’ve been through in my life. they ignored my suggestion to book 4 weekends entirely, and we rigged up and ran. Said and done, 40 hours and a couple of beers later, they packed up their stuff in a car and drove home. they havecompletely completely disproved and shown me the other Pro-Tools copy / paste world how you should lira real rock n roll. specifically – Heavyweight Rock n Roll. Rig up and run!the result is amazing good! ”
Pontus Snibb 3 is a new power trio formed by vocalist and guitarist Pontus Snibb of outstanding hard rockers Bonafide. He’s backed up by Backdraft’s rhythm section, Mats Rydstrom (bass) and Niklas Matsson (drums). If you have any knowledge of either Bonafide or Backdraft, you’ll have some inclination to what PS3 has to offer. Loud Feathers offers gritty, old school, hard rock with more than a little touch of blues. Recorded over a mere three days, the songs were cut nearly live with few overdubs. While the production is smooth, you can hear the essential raw energy in the performances. PS3 is helped in the studio by friends Conny Bloom (Electric Boys), Ralf Gyllenhammar (Mustasch), and Mats Ronander on harmonica (he played with ABBA; yeah, you read that right).
Hangfire‘s claim to fame if you will is that former Tigertailz drummer Matt Blakout is a member of the band. Although if you are looking for the type of outrageous glam that Tigertailz are known for you are going to be extremely disappointed with Shoot The Crow. If anything, Hangfire is closer to the post-grunge sound that helped destroy the careers of countless ’80s glam bands — Tigertailz included.
From French mother and Spanish father, since he was a child he has felt passion for music, being specially keen on groups like Toto, Journey, Survivor. His first introduction in music was with “Refuge” in 1992. One year later he left the band together with the bass player to join the group Banam Banam with whom he was for about one year, cooperating in new compositions and recordings, sharing all this with singing lessons in the music conservatory. At the end of 1993 he started the band “D.O.N.T” (Days Of No Trust) with the

This 5-piece hard rock band theFALLEN from York have already impressed HTF with their live presence a few years back on their tour with Heaven’s Basement, and with their brand new album being released earlier this week, we’re itching to find out whether they can do the same on CD.
‘Ignite The Fire’ kicks off the album to a spookily climatic start, with the use of electronics and synthesisers to create an album battlefield-like primer, shortly followed by the heavy double bass and thudding guitars.
Then ‘Judgement Day’ begins, and the wild 80?s sounding guitars kick in, with its melodic riffs and the crash of the drum setting the ultimate party mood. Vocalist Johnny Fallen adds a mixture of Jettblack, Heaven’s Basement and The Treatment influences to the band. With a tad of Avenged Sevenfold in there to top it all off. With the reckless guitars and raunchy baselines, it’s hard not to like this album.
