CAPTAIN ZORX – The Maps of the Ancient Sea Kings 2012

NOW!WOW!

This band is the reincarnation of intergalactic super hero CAPTAIN ZORX! Blown to pieces by some wicked sourpusses, the CAPTAIN managed to split his being into four colour components before total destruction: Mr. Yellow, Mr. Red, Mr. Green and Mr. Blue (aka Aubergine). These four components are able to act independently from another, but if they combine forces (e.g. on stage, in the rehearsal-room or wherever there’s cheap beer and nachos), the CAPTAIN rises from the darkest realms of the universe to fight his eternal fight against all sourpusses, evil forces and wicked hairdresses out there. Such an event is known across the universe as a

Maid of Mettle – Amulet 2012

NOW!

Maid of Mettle is an original, symphonically influenced, female-fronted metal band. Lyricist and lead vocalist Deanna Whalen writes about everything from insomnia, child abuse and addiction to religious wars and spiritual enlightenment but always about real life experiences. Deanna studied Bel Canto/ Italian Opera style singing for 8 yrs and uses her well rounded tones in every line of her vocal expressions as she delivers her messages with power, control and passion. Maid Of Mettle stands for, being in the service of honoring one’s true self. Because life is made up of the darkness as well as the light and the combination of these experiences is what makes us who we are, song subject matter within Maid Of Mettle is not always about sunshine on a field of daisies but largely the hand holding

Jane Helen – Jane Helen 2010

now!

Now finally Jane Helen’s debut album here. Many will probably remember their very so refreshing appearance at the Eurovision Song Contest last year, others have probably experienced the band live. Still others were joined by their EP “huh” in 2007. They have also been playlisted on German and American radio stations. But the first time people beyond your circle of friends became seriously aware of the band when they were in 2004 in the finals of “The National Finals Of The Global Battle Of The Bands”. From there to here has just gone up.

DECEIT – NINE (2012)

NOW!

After their debut EP in 2010 which received great feedback and a strong reputation that the band has build around its name from their live performances Deceit is ready to release their first full length album with the title “Nine“.
Their sound is a mix of catchy melodies, cool riffs with an early 90’s alternative rock sound. I think that this band have must grown up with bands such as Foo Fighters and Alice In Chains to name a few. Most of the songs here are solid with strong arrangements and very good performances. This band has plenty of talent and that’s a thing reflects to their music. “First Father” is Deceit’s first video-clip and it’s about a very good modern rock song with powerfull performances and attitude. A good sample of what this band is capable to offer! Other highlights here are the ‘darker’ tune of “Around The World“, the aggressive “The Fall” and “Last Song”.

Tyrants & Kings – Tyrants & Kings 2009

NOW!

Lead singer and guitarist, Dennis Kasten, says: “Our debut was a folk-rock-album marked by an extremely dark view on life. On Phosphor Anthems our perspective on life is still pitch-black – we just took away the folk and added more guitar.” He continues: “Phosphor Anthems is a gloomy and noisy rock ´n´ roll album, that will appeal to all lovers of rock ´n´roll”.

LADY FUEL – Pleasure Room 2012

NOW!

Recently this region houses a famous rock band that defies all laws of gravity, mocking fashions and gossip it? LADY FUEL is led by STEPH Tinayre a Screamer high class that does not in kind but in the lyric like “I have as much as you guys!”
After an EP released in 2010, the group achieves its projects by offering the first album in the middle of the back. Packaged in a beautiful digipack (STAN work. W. DECKER), this quartet we balance here 12 tracks of Rock nervous typed successful year 70 atmospheres. Brightness to Your Holy Empire’s voice bewitches us STEPH while ROMAN PIROUX takes us through riffs and solos brighter than each other. The rhythm section consists of DOM DAMOISEAU (bass) and CHARLY FOUCAUD (drums) keep the cap firmly and accurately. Some titles emerge from the lot as Pleasure Room, which combines the groove of RED HOT LED ZEP roots with a very dreamlike way calmer. While the pieces very AC / DC that are Keep Eater That Anger and Philo near a Jack The Roman demonstrate dexterity on the guitar.

Angband – Saved from the Truth 2012

NOW!

Angband are a PowerProg Metal band, formed in 2004 in Tehran by Mahyar Dean a classically trained musician and author who is well known in the metal world for writing two books about Death and Testament.

Saved from the Truth is Angband’s third album in a relatively short space of time and you would think they should clearly be in their groove.  Seasons of my Pain starts with a beautiful acoustic intro that shows Dean’s classical roots and promises so much before we’re introduced to a horribly muddy slice of riffs and double bass drumming that lead to some fairly lifeless plodding vocals.  The whole song just feels flat after such a wonderful intro and I’m already fearing what lies ahead for the remainder of the album.  The recording quality of the track, intro aside, is pretty poor with the vocals and drums sounding very empty and flat while the guitar tone is lacking definition.
