Motherload – Black And Blue (2013)
British band Motherload’s first full-length release “Black And Blue” is a fully loaded freight-train of hard-rocking, metal-plated rock’n’roll that just about flattened me as I listened to it, and I mean that as a sincere compliment.
The band harnesses a range of influences from hard rock and heavy metal to classic rock – just listen to those souped up melodies wrapped up in the barbed-wire vocals of front-man Tom – creating an album that is chock-full of rib-shaking riffs, sizzling guitar-solos, and satisfyingly heavy musical goodness.
As I listen to “Black And Blue”, there are glimpses of influences from bands like Skid Row, Motörhead and Black Label Society flashing through my head, but this is most certainly a band that has its own sound and voice, and its own take on rock…
