GRIM – Masturbating Zombie 2011
The Grim are a trio formed in the spring of 2008 from an idea of the singer guitarist Alex Grim.In the same year our recruit two friends to complete the training, which, Grave Rob on bass and Mark Mastiff behind the skins. The themes are strongly affected by the band inspired by b-movie horror, a passion that unites, among other things, all three members.
After a first album in 2009, which allowed him a contract with the Necrotorture Agency (still active), the Our recur on the market with a second disc, which will examine today, sarcastically titled ‘Zombie Masturbating’. The work was dedicated to the issues of black humor and a strong dose of Hard’n’Heavy / hard’n’roll, but we watch for this product in detail ……
Starting art work, it must be said that our have “disturbed” the designer / colorist Oscar Celestini, to make a really good product and very zomby-style. To include an illustration in the booklet that sees musicians portrayed as a Zombie, in fact, surrounded by various characters ranging from IT (the clown), from Dracula, Freddy Krueger to the Gremlins and horrorifici various characters.
All in an excellent packaging in digipack.
Turning our attention to the musical content ….
After an intro organ surrounded by moaning female ‘Nightmare Castle’, a moment worthy of the best horror films, the band with the energy connecting to ‘My Black Widow’. Where sounds are found unmistakably influenced by Hardcore Superstar, very marked also by the similarity of the two vocalists, although we are not in front of any plagiarism or cloning is that it is clear. In addition to situations worthy of the best Misfits. The piece wraps and ruffianissimo, as if to attract the listener. Pompous melodies, riffs well and proposed a rhythmic base accattivanete, with the inevitable chorus of the case, that there istigheranno singing behind the band.
Follows ‘Society’, with un’aproccio harder, arrriva situations where heavy and melodic at the same time bad. One of the key points of the album, as far as I’m concerned, where everything seems to be in the right place, each player reveals his skill and the whole band together shows a great attitude to the genre.
Also good ‘Venomous’ where some strong influences that lead to the band of Zakk Wylde, especially with regard to the side of the guitar, with swirling riffs and notes “screaming” as the blond bearded has accustomed us. The solo, the chorus is inspired and I assure you that you will print head from the first listen. A perfect blend of hard rock, heavy metal and punk rock implications.
Sequenced starting with ‘Premature Burial’ where you can also enjoy good drumming, as well as the aforementioned catchy riffs and bad, as the band shows in every piece plus.
Nothing is said of truly innovative with regard to certain situaizoni horrorificamente music, but what the Grim offer is proposed very well. A thrasheggiante alone stands in the foreground throughout the piece, which brings to mind Metallica (when they were Metallica).
‘Cutting’, more hard rock, continues the discussion, followed by the massive ‘Breathless’, containing un’approccio heavily thrash cazzutissimo, a piece that will make you shake your hair like crazy.
A double bass at times hold a charge, while the guitar riffs shoots open to interesting melodies. Even quà not missing a nice solo into place proposed. A piece composed somewhere between thrash, punk rock and hard rock, these mixed on an informed basis and with great taste.
The songs, however, stress that are very simple with regard to the composition, but very direct impact, without ever annoy those who use it, in fact, making it very attractive and often “winking”.
It lightens slightly to the proposal with ‘Painful’, followed by ‘Inferno’, this opens with a clean guitar very soft and soft vocals, which soon, however, allow for a departure from the heavy flavor, with a bass drum and galloping riff that will break through to the listener.
The piece has the quality to be included in a hit-rotation, by listening to pleasant, the chorus vocals really attractive and well-set (as in the rest of the work).
Small juncture where the background you hear some moaning women in the distance, then give free rein to un’assolo fits perfectly.
‘It’s Better To Be Buried’ is bad, starting with a very dark, where guitar and bass will slam you in the face without fear, only to find themselves in a situation identical to what has been done so far.
‘The Dead Are After Me’, has a rhythmic taken directly from Nordic Hardcore Superstar, already mentioned in the previous rows, where the battery is divided a little more, accompanying, together with the low, roaring guitars and melodies really well-managed.
To conclude the hilarious ‘Beverly Hells’, from the look extremely punk’n’roll, where the band leaves the listener with a renewed determination and the desire to have fun and casino.
In conclusion, an album that you listen with pleasure, not boring even for an instant, proposed by a band that knows his business, offering genuine music with great attitude and style. If desired, cousins of the Misfits.
Of course, as I said, nothing new, but if you want to spend a day darkly cheerful and have a good sound basis for a rocking party, perhaps to halloween, you should get this cd!
