Strip – Strip 2019
Glam? Yep, the boys fit the mold of many of their favorite bands of the “Hair Band” era, yet with each band member bringing their own influences to the songs you couldn’t say they sounded like any one particular band. Jay’s melodic lead vocals, Gary and Joel’s twin guitar attack, Timmy’s full-on bass assault, and Mikey’s hard-hitting thunder from behind the kit gave STRIP their own sound.
Harmonic? Yep, a big key to the STRIP sound were the catchy harmonies the band prided themselves on. Never one to take the easy way out, every band practice was time to work on the intertwining vocals to give each song a bigger sound. From ballads like “Love Story” and “Forget Your Love” to rockers “Lullabye” and “It Doesn’t Matter” , the harmonies played as big a part as anything.
Hair? Yep, there sure was a lot of hair. A lot of Hair spray, a lot of spandex, a lot of leather, a lot of fringe and a lot of Timmy’s homemade stagewear. The band knew that a rock show was more than just the sound, it was a visual experience as well, and they looked every bit the rock band on and off the stage.
Hooks? Yep, the STRIP method for writing music was to make sure everyone would go home with a song in their head that wouldn’t go away. They wrote songs they liked to listen to and really truly enjoyed playing. It was always a thrill to see people in the crowd singing the songs that started out as scribbles on a piece of blank paper and became the music that defined the band.
