STONED AGE – Rockgasm ’87 [Remastered +4 bonus] (2024)
Hailing from Wiesbaden, Germany, hard rock band STONED AGE from was founded in 1979 inspired by the greats acts from the genre. The band polished their owns songs and performed the clubs area until 1982 when STONED AGE recorded their first demo.
There were some line up changes over the years, with the band expanding the gigs area, playing festivals and sharing stages with the likes of Uriah Heep, Victory, Mike + The Mechanics, etc.
Then in 1987 STONED AGE decided it was time for their first album, and the result was the self-released “Rockgasm”. Recorded at the MTV Studio in Frankfurt, the album contained ten tracks. The edition of only 500 LPs and 150 cassettes quickly sold out, making “Rockgasm” a sought-after Collector’s item.
Now 2024 STONED AGE celebrates their 45th anniversary as a band, and are reissuing “Rockgasm” for the first time on CD, remastered by Markus Teske (Vanden Plas, The New Roses) and including as bonus tracks their first 1982 demo, 4-tracks previously unreleased.
STONED AGE used to play hard rock with melody pretty much in the vein of late ’70s Scorpions and early ’80s Europe / Michael Schenker Group > pure European melodic-hard with variation in arrangements, a capable singer, and fine musicianship.
An obscure, collectors piece album of timeless, classic hard rock stuff. It’s a limited reissue, for a copy contact the band’s Facebook below.
