COLLECTIVE SOUL – 7even Year Itch: Greatest Hits (2023 reissue) , MP3+ FLAC
Multi-Platinum rockers COLLECTIVE SOUL are re-releasing “7even Year Itch: Greatest Hits“, and for the first time on vinyl. Originally out in 2001, the compilation traces the apex of the band’s career – from their 1993 breakthrough, “Shine,” through ’90s staples like “The World I Know,” “December”, “Heavy” and the frenetic riff-driven “Gel”.
Continuing the through-line, 7even Year Itch also includes the group’s 2000 collaboration with Elton John, “Perfect Day,” as well as “Next Homecoming” and “Energy,” both of which appear exclusively in this collection.
The 2001 release hit #50 on the Billboard 200 and #9 on the Canadian album chart. The album celebrates Collective Soul’s breadth and versatility.
COLLECTIVE SOUL were the most ‘melodic rock’ oriented band from the alt rock scene in the Nineties, and the songs packed into “7even Year Itch: Greatest Hits” are all good.
Praised by AllMusic as containing “some of the most melodic rock hits of the ’90s,” – 7even Year Itch remains an enduring favorite in Collective Soul’s impressive catalog. Many people call COLLECTIVE SOUL ‘rock for moms’ for the inoffensive delivery of these poppy song – these are just feel good songs. Simple and effective.
