Alexa – Alexa (1989)
Apart from her sultry looks, it was the name of Paul Sabu that attracted my attention when I first bought this album (originally released by Savage) in 1989. If you like Sabu’s body of work (and more specific his Only Child period), then you will surely like this “Alexa” album as much. All ten tracks are easy on the ear and were recorded with the help of the musicians that then were band members of Only Child. Alexa is the owner of a strong voice and can easily be called a better version of Lee Aaron.
Listening back to her album 16 years after its original release proves that the songs have easily stood the test of time. Indeed, it’s still a pleasure to listen to tracks such as “Wanderlust”, “Cool Wind”, “Heart To Heart” and “Spooky”. Released without bonus tracks (I miss the two songs that were featured on the soundtrack of the horror movie“To Die For” ), but digitally remastered, this is a MTM Classix re-issue I can safely recommend to anyone who cares for female rock.
