Hardballz – World Wild Web (2015)
It’s a classic Hard Rock with tons of Heavy Metal influence, creating a hybrid music full of life and energy. No, it’s not really new, but when old formulas fall on hands that know what to do, of course the fruits will be fresh and delicious. Very good vocals, catching guitar riffs and technical and melodic solos, and a technical and heavy bass and drums work. It will get you for sure!
Well, here in Brazil, side projects are not so common, but not extremely rare as well, and when an experienced musician is behind the work, you can be prepared for something very good. And coming from Niterói, on Rio de Janeiro, another fine piece arise: HARDBALLZ, a side project from Marcelo Val, who played bass on PAINSIDE, IMAGO MORTIS, RECKONING, and actually is on OBSIN. But as he can’t stay stopped for a long time, “World Wild Web” comes to the light. And for the happiness of our ears.
The production, done by Marcelo himself, is very, very good. The quality of sound is fine and clear, but with the weight the work demands. So you’ll be caught by the ears and get addicted!
The album is extremely heavy and nervous, an addiction in form of music, so be prepared when hearing songs like the elegant and heavy “Face the Truth”, the Hard’n’Roll “Living Free” (hear with attention the complex but catching guitar work), the down and dirty “Heroes Don’t Run”, the heavy “Carry On” (great chorus, indeed!), the charming and catching “World Wild Web” (hear the power of bass and drums work), the purely hooking “No Shame”, the strong “Deepest Dreams”, and the bluesy ballad “Fields of the Past”.
