Tempestt – Bring ’em On (2008)

img004Metal Heaven will release three albums and all of them are worth checking out. Ancara?s ?Beyond The Dark? and PowerWorld?s self-titled debut album are reviewed elsewhere, here and now I would like to introduce you to a young Brazilian band by the name of Tempestt.  Hailing from Sao Paulo, Tempestt started as a cover band, playing material from bands as diverse as Bon Jovi, Dream Theater, Europe, Journey, Kansas and Queen. Knowing this, it doesn?t really come as a surprise that influences from all of them are to be found in the music of Tempestt, which is a bit difficult to describe. Allow me to call it a mix of melodic hard rock with a good dose of progmetal thrown in for good measure. The band may still be young, you won?

t notice it when you listen to the songs that already show enough maturity to convince the rock and metal fraternity. Ace of the pack is singer BJ, who performs the melodic material in such a powerful way that you won?t fall asleep along your listening trip. On more than one occasion he reminded me of Mats Levén. It?s also great to hear him sing a duet with Jeff Scott Soto in ?Insanity Desire?: unbelievable how both voices match ? and no wonder Tempestt is supporting Jeff Scott Soto during his current European trek. The European version of ?Bring ?Em On? ends with an interesting cover of Journey?s ?Don?t Stop Believin??, which clearly proves that the band members are able to turn their hands to anything. Bring them on and check them out!
