Ajenda – Unrecognizable (2013)
What’s going to be the result if you mix a very good female singer, some killer riffs, lots of melodies, a tight rhythm section and a strong dose of pure pop-rock? The answer is simple; AJENDA!! This new rock band is hailing from Belfast and “Unrecognizable” is entitled its debut album.
In October 2012, the band took part in Hard Rock Hell‘s band competition where they came runners up with over 1000 applicants at the outset. They have supported the likes of FM, Pat McManus, Mike Tramp, Ricky Warwick, The Quireboys and they, also, played at the HRH festival.
The band’s biggest weapon is without any doubt its singer Jen Walker who in some parts reminds me of Lizzy Hale of Halestorm!! The band shows a tight musicianship and except frm the amazing Jen, they have a lot to offer besides a bunch of well-crafted tunes that they can be missed by any fan of pop-rock sound. The album kicks off with the catchy “Dirty Rock ‘n’ Roll” which is a great sample of Ajenda‘s music. Smooth and soulful performances by Jen, a cool heavy riff and a catchy chorus line in this wonderful track! “Tattoo” is movin’ into some more ‘modern’ rock paths with its bad-rock attitude and its great guitar work!! Another excellent song and of course another highlight!!! “Paranoia” includes a tasty melody, a ‘clever” hook and chorus and some bluesier pinches here and there! “Otherside” is a stunning mid-tempo rocker while in “Fragile” the band’s deliver a great acoustic tune with a beautiful melody!!
